When you look in the mirror, who do you see looking
back at you?
Do you identify with that image, thinking “this is me?”
Do you think of that body you see as something or
someone foreign to you, separate from you, a body you
inhabit, but isn’t who you are at all?
Do you think of yourself as being more than what you
see?
Do you feel loving, caring, friendly toward the one you
see?
Does that image you see represent:
Someone you love?
Someone you hate?
Someone you’re proud of being?
Someone who never measures up, isn’t good enough,
is a big disappointment?
Something or someone beautiful and pleasing?
Something or someone you’re ashamed of, you find
disgusting, or who reminds you of painful
experiences or traumatic events?
A body that gives you the delicious opportunity to
enjoy all the wonders of the physical world?
Something you’re stuck with and resent, that
prevents you from doing what you want, or
having the life you desire?
Something that easily changes and responds to your
desires and efforts?
Something you can’t control, seems out of control,
or betrays and fails you?
Your responses to these questions MATTER to the
condition of your body, whether you are considering how
fat or skinny you are, what kind of shape you’re in,
the presence or possibility of disease, how easily
you’ll heal from injury or illness.
It turns out that they matter more than any action you
may take.
Naturally, loving, being proud of, seeing beauty in,
enjoying, finding delight in, feeling the
responsiveness of your body and the way it represents
you, are what will best support your well being.
For many people, those feelings are the opposite of how
they feel about themselves and their bodies.
Probably the most common condition in which women in
particular experience frustration, shame, disgust,
self-rejection, and desperation is being overweight.
Yet the most common response to this condition is
restrictive dieting and punishing exercise–which
rarely yields more than temporary change, and more
commonly only reinforces all the painful feelings.
What actually WORKS for long term results–whether
reducing size, re-shaping your body, or healing from
illness or injury–is completely counterintuitive, and
the opposite of what most of us have been trained to
believe.
What works is to deal FIRST with all those negative
beliefs about yourself, the stories you’ve been
practicing. What works is to create a positive, loving
environment for yourself in which you can
compassionately let go of those beliefs and stories
that you’ve been using to unconsciously create a
reality you don’t like.
If your issue is obesity, and you would like to stop
the crazy-making cycle of trying so hard to change your
body, and get long-lasting results with a very
different approach, you’ll want to check out Jessica
Ortner’s new program.
“Focusing on diet and exercise FIRST when
trying to release weight is absolutely the
wrong approach.
“It’s not that diet and exercise don’t matter.
It’s that the ability to eat well, exercise,
and feel safe releasing weight are all run
unconsciously in your brain, and if your
brain isn’t wired the way you want it to be,
then you’re just setting yourself up for failure.
“If you’ve struggled and gone from diet to diet,
you’re likely to continue the trend UNLESS you
get to the root of the problem.”
Jessica used EFT Tapping to get to the root of her own
beliefs, stories, and feelings about her overweight
body, and has now taught and coached thousands of women
to get the kind of wonderful results she is enjoying.
“The results were DRAMATIC. I stopped wanting
and eating sugar. I began to WANT to exercise.
I lost 11 lbs. within just 2 months. After 5
more months, I’d lost another 7 lbs. The day
after New Year’s, I stepped on a scale and I
had lost another pound instead of gaining
anything. In the year since, I have not
dieted or restricted food AT ALL!”
-Rhonda Robinson
“I have struggled for over 15 years with weight
fluctuations and emotional issues surrounding
food and body image. Through working with
Jessica, I was able to discover the root cause
of my eating/body issues and understand how to
move forward.
Not only is there a physical transformation,
but also a significant emotional weight loss
as well…”
-Christine Haskin
